We investigate whether the confidence of management teams, defined as certainty about handling what one desires to do, affects capacity firms raise external capital. Drawing on psychology research, we run an experiment in which participants are asked assess teams 515 initial coin offerings (ICOs) by appraising their pictures. Controlling for venture and offering characteristics, find a positive association between fundraising amount. The results robust alternative estimation methods other visual traits such attractiveness intelligence. Our study highlights importance using images channel communicate with prospective investors finance.
